5 Tech Recruitments Myths That You Should Stop Believing

Receiving the right talent for your organization is indeed a vital part of the recruitment process. After all, bringing in new talent is what keeps your organization growing and moving ahead.

Today’s fast-paced, tech-driven world is constantly changing the hiring and recruitment processes, making it difficult for companies to make informed decisions about their processes and procedures. In addition, myths about how to hire new staff are common. But before you hire new employees, let’s address some of these myths.

Myth #1: Employees Only Care About Compensation

We’ve all heard that money is what drives people to work hard, but it is also true that people are driven by other incentives as well. This is why creating a culture where employees take part in the decision processes and share in the achievements of the company is important.

By taking part in the decision-making process and sharing in the success of the organization, employees feel that their opinions are valued. When employees feel valued for their opinions, like stakeholders in the company, they are more productive, more creative, and are better at problem-solving.

Myth #2: Talent Comes From Good Schooling

Employees of the 21st century are often more knowledgeable than those of the 20th century partly because of the internet and because there are so many more opportunities for learning.

The trouble is that there is a lot of information on the internet and it is impossible for any single person to know everything. This is why employers need to get back to the basics and look at critical thinking skills, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Good employees should be able to see the big picture, multi-task, and think outside of the box. After all, this is what most businesses look for when hiring staff.

Myth #3: First Impressions Are Built to Last

You might be surprised to learn that the first impression people have of you is not necessarily their last impression of you. Not only does this apply to job applicants, but also to the people who are already working for you.

When recruiting and hiring new talent, organizations must also consider personality, motivation, and whether new employees will fit into the organization's culture.

Myth #4: Rely on Resumes and Cover Letters

Resumes may be one of the most difficult aspects of the hiring process. Resumes are a great way to learn about someone’s experience, but they can easily be tailored to suit each application. They may also be used to hide or don’t show all an individual has to offer.

Cover letters too can be misleading. Even if a person has a great cover letter that is geared toward a specific job opportunity, a cover letter doesn’t tell you much about that person’s motivation, thinking process, or how they are going to fit into your existing team.

Myth #5: Focus on Behavioral Interview Questions

Behavioral interview questions can be hard to answer and in some cases are easier to prepare for. In addition, behavioral interview questions may focus on an individual’s past behavior and don’t necessarily reflect their future behavior.

In order to get a better understanding of how a person will perform in a job, you will need to look more at their thinking process.

Conclusion

These myths must be kept in mind in order to get the right person for the right job. People factors are important and should not be overlooked when recruiting and hiring new employees for your company.
